FAQ
About Lanka Home Care
Lanka Home Care is for anyone who needs home care for an elderly loved one in Sri Lanka. Our services and operational structure are designed specifically for families living overseas—giving special attention to the unique requirements of those who are thousands of miles away.
Lanka Home Care was designed by an Australian-based, Sri Lankan-born doctor who felt the need himself. Every element of Lanka Home Care service, from clinical governance to record keeping to reporting, was built around what a medical professional would want for their own parents. No comparable service exists in Sri Lanka.
Lanka Home Care is conceptualised, designed, and operated by doctors and nurses with decades of experience in health and wellbeing across Sri Lanka and Australia.
Care & Services
Lanka Home Care subscriptions are customised packages tailored to your loved one’s needs. Available services include Nursing Care, Dementia Care, Doctor Visits, and Physiotherapy & Mobility. Care plans start at AUD 349 per month.
Nursing Care is the foundation of Lanka Home Care. Our trained healthcare professionals visit your loved one regularly, assess their condition, attend to all clinical and wellbeing needs on the spot, arrange and supervise medication intake, and maintain a complete medical file that travels with them wherever they go.
Dementia Care is an extension of our Nursing Care service, designed for those living with memory decline. Our trained dementia carers maintain daily routines, provide gentle orientation, and create a calm, familiar environment so your loved one can live with dignity in their own home.
When your loved one requires a visit to the GP or a specialist, arranging that from overseas is an ordeal.
Our Doctor Visit service is designed to handle the entire process—finding the right specialist, making the appointment, arranging transport, accompaniment, investigations, prescriptions, and follow-up. If we identify a need during a care visit, we initiate the process with your approval and see it through to resolution.
If and when physiotherapy is required or prescribed, our physiotherapists visit your loved one at home. Between sessions, our trained healthcare professionals support their exercise routines to keep progress on track. No gaps, no regression.
Clinical Governance & Records
We create and maintain a complete electronic summary of your loved one’s medical records for the entire length of the contract. Every visit, every doctor’s appointment, every investigation is added to the file. You or your loved one do not have to bear the burden of what happened during a past illness or the medicines that were given. That is continuity of care.
Our trained healthcare professionals electronically record observations made during every visit using a centrally managed app—general status, physical examination findings, level of engagement and happiness. All data is securely stored with gated access.
All collected data is securely stored and centrally managed with gated access. So your loved one’s records are accessible by their care team—whenever required.
Our team attends to issues the moment they are detected—whether that means telephone advice from an on-call doctor, a visit to the family doctor or a specialist, or an emergency admission. Action is initiated immediately, with your approval. If you are unreachable, we act to ensure your loved one’s safety and notify you as soon as possible.
It means seeing through the entire process once it is initiated. If follow-up investigations or doctor visits are needed, we attend to them. You do not need to remind us.
Every trained healthcare professional has access to a senior nurse. Every nurse has direct telephone access to an on-call doctor at all times. Where specialist input is needed, our priority specialist network is available without long waiting periods.
Our specialist network is a curated group of senior medical experts in the specialities elders most commonly need. They are selected for their rational medical practice and ethical standards—not for availability alone.
